Plant-based ingredients
At LisaLise, our ingredients are plant-based, and with the exception of a very few ingredients (some essential oils), every ingredient we use is actually edible. We use as many 100% organic ingredients as we can source. We do not test on animals. We do not compromise on quality.

In water-based products, we use hydrolates or floral waters instead of ‘just’ water. Hydrolates (also known as Hydrosols) are the by-products of the essential oils production process. During this process, herbs or flowers are distilled with pure spring water. The water is heated and steam-pressed through the plant material as vapour. This allows the essential oils to be collected from the plants. The oils float on the surface of the resulting water and are removed, leaving the hydrolate. It is these precious, fragrant liquids we use in our products. Read more about hydrosols and floral waters here.

When possible, we do not use paraben preservatives. However, as parabens are (at present) the most reliable preservative for any product containing soap, they are present in some of our body and bath products. When we use parabens, we do not use any of the parabens that are under suspicion for possible hormonal intererence. Read more about parabens here.

Plantebaseret ingredienser

WHY PLANT-BASED OILS?
The molecules in plant-based oils are small enough to penetrate human skin. Because of this molecular structure, active ingredients can be carried directly to the deeper layers where they can do the most good.

By contrast, the molecules in mineral-based oils cannot penetrate the skin - quite simply because they are too large. Although a mineral-based oil can give an immediate feeling of smoothness, the oil (and any active ingredient it is carrying) just builds up on the surface of the skin, ultimately clogging the pores.

One could ask why the cosmetics industry uses mineral-based oils at all. The answer is quite simple: they are cheaper and, in many ways, much easier to use for mass-production purposes.

Although plant-based oils are more demanding to work with, we are convinced they are well worth the trouble. You will find only plant-based oils in our products.
