How to: Aromatherapy Inhalers
Lise
Not long ago, I showed you how to make an anti-stuffy nose inhaler. It all came about as a result of the handy dandy little inhaler-containers my French supplier carries (link below). And anti-stuffy nose inhalers are great, but who's to stop us from getting a little creative?
No one!
We can have fun and play around with all the essential oil combos our heart desires. And that's just what we're going to do today.
We're going to make our own aromatherapy inhalers.
If you are savvy about essential oils and their different uses, you'll have seen descriptions of each oil that can include everything from 'helps to clear the head' and 'calming, aids rest and sleep' to 'improves disposition and lifts mood' and 'promotes cell regeneration'.
The Sky is the Limit
Combining essential oils for an inhaler is not only an interesting way to test synergies, but it's also great for following the development of a scent. Because if you have worked with essential oils - even just a little - you have probably experienced how the scent can do magical things (read: change) when essential oils are combined.
Gather your necessities (it's a short list):
Essential oils
Inhaler containers (do not reuse containers!)
Here’s what I made in this session.
Citrus Fresh Inhaler
I am a big fan of citrus scents and decided to make a mood-lifting inhaler to help me through the dark and gloomy winter months.
This contains a combination of
lemon
mandarin
orange
grapefruit
lime
Clear Head Inhaler
This combination of oils is said to battle migraine and clear the head. Happily, I don't suffer from migraine, but head clearing can be needed at any time!
Basil
Lavender
Peppermint
Sleep Easy Inhaler
This was created for a special friend who struggles with insomnia. I hope this combination of relaxing oils works for her. The blend contains:
Lavender
Linden
Ylang ylang
Tip: Put small (temporary) stickers on each container if you are working with several different scent combos so you can keep track of what's what until you get your final labels made.
Extra tip: keep notes so you can recreate your fabulous blends
Putting these together is as easy as you please - check this post for a step by step how-to
