Soothing Balm With a Purpose

Lise

LisaLisesoothingbalm.jpg

I developed this balm for a couple of reasons.

  1. Creating excellence with a minimum of ingredients is my addiction

  2. I was asked to create a series of formulas for a specific purpose

  3. I love balms and cannot find a single reason not to make and use them for just about everything

More to come…

Rosemary for Everything

Lise

LisaLIseRosemaryinfuse.jpg

Rosemary is such a fabulous plant I use it for numerous things. I’ve also been infusing it into numerous mediums because, well, it’s so multifunctional and it smells absolutely fabulous.

Pictured: a few stalks from a mature plant that are getting ready to become part of an oil infusion. The stalks have loads of scent and are quite suitable for oil infusion.

What can rosemary infusions be useful for? Depends on whet you infuse it in!

A rosemary glycerite is a great addition to a refreshing skin tonic

Rosemary-infused oil is a great addition to a hair and scalp oil, or an invigorating mask.

Rosemary-infused vinegar is fabulous as a hair rinse with no need of additional ingredients.

Alcohol infusion makes a rosemary tincture that can be added to scalp stimulating products or products for oily skin.

You can even infuse it into honey for an all natural cleanser. There’s a how-to right here on the main blog.

You Can Too

Want to make your own extracts and don’t know where to start? I’ve written a book that may help you decide what you want to try making first.

Lab Moments

Lise

LisaLiselab.jpg

Here’s a snapshot of a few things going on in the LisaLise lab. Infusions underway, note taking in progress, products being monitored and tested, and ingredients being catalogued. Those small (empty) glass bottles in the background are vintage apothecary and perfume bottles that were gifted to me by a dear friend. They’ve been patiently waiting in a box for me to move into this new space.

There’s loads of storage space and room enough for everything I need. To me, it’s a little slice of heaven. I considered putting labels on the ‘wall of drawers’ when I moved in, but it wasn’t more than a tick and a half before I could remember the contents of (almost) every drawer.

Thanks for stopping by!

Go Green For Real

Lise

LisaLisebalm.jpg

If you’re going to go green, you might as well go all out and make it apparent in your products. Here’s a beautifully soothing non greasy balm that is free of preservatives and gets its luscious color from the natural oils it contains.

There are very few ingredients in it, and it is quite easy to make. It might even be fair to say this is a beginner friendly formula.

Curious to know more? Stick around and I’ll tell you more about it real soon.

Summer Strawberries For the Nose

Lise

LisaLiseStrawberryvinegar.jpg

In the dead of winter it is often a real mood lifter to recreate a bit of summer in the lab. Right now I’m working on a few infusions and this one popped right up on my to do list when I came across organic slow-dried strawberries.

To make it a real challenge, these were popped into a jar of vinegar. Stay tuned to the main blog (LisaLiseBlog.com) to see the outcome.

Afterburn Lip Balm

Lise

LisaLiseAFTERBURNBALM.jpg

When I tested this lip balm with my own handcrafted chili-infused oil for the first time, I expected to feel like my lips were on fire, but there was no immediate heat.

Instead, it crept up quite slowly and increased in strength until there was no question in my mind: this lip balm was destined to be named Afterburn.

This lip balm is 100% plant-based - even the color - which is the result of a combination of oils infused with Turkish Paprika and Chili Peppers.

Are you signed up for my newsletter? Cool, cuz then you can look forward to an adaptable balm formula with chili-infused oil. Want to sign up? Excellent! Visit this page to join the upcoming chili-balm fun!
