Battling Winter Doldrums

This time of year in my small Nordic country, sunshine is a bit of a rarity. The temperatures drop, but almost worse is the disappearance of light. A Mordor-like darkness rolls in around late November and takes hold until Spring.

In Copenhagen, the sun doesn’t get up until around 8:30 am and already starts thinking about going down around 2:30 pm. If it happens to be a cloudy day (which it is more often than not), the ‘daylight’ we get is comparable to twilight.

I understand why bears hibernate. This time of year, I am quite ready to join them.

However, there are things one can do in the Nordic winter months to stave off the darkness and gloom. Like enjoy an outdoor hot tub. Imagine sitting in lovely warm bubbles even though the wind is icy and the sky is as black as black can be? That should do it!

Here’s a shot of what I have in mind.

Now, all I need to do is find out where this (stock) photo was taken.
