Easy Foaming Face Cleanser
Lise
This had to happen because I had a small stash of bath bombs and suddenly found myself in a home with no bathtub - only showers.
Today, we are repurposing a few bath bombs to make this easy foaming cleanser.
To begin with, choose a few bath bombs that have ingredients you are happy to use in a face cleanser. My own bath bombs use botanicals and essential oils for color and fragrance and are featured in this book.
Here’s what I used in this cleanser: the 4 bombs (and one nugget) pictured on the table.
Start by turning your bath bombs into dust. This is easy to do if you pop them in a bag and whack the bombs with a rolling pin to break them up, then roll over them to pulverize. Et voilá - bath bomb dust!
With your dust ready to go, you can start putting together your ingredients.

INGREDIENT | PERCENT |
---|---|
Bath Bomb Dust | 47.0 |
Clay | 18.0 |
Skimmed Milk Powder | 15.0 |
Dry Extract or Herb | 11.0 |
Dry Extract, Herb or Milk Powder | 9.0 |
Here’s what I used in my batch.
The dry extracts can be replaced with your own handcrafted herbal powders or any other dry extracts of your choice. Be sure not to exceed recommended dosage of any extracts you use.
I imagine colloidal oats or additional milk powders would be fab here.
After you have chosen and weighed out your ingredients it’s as easy as combining everything and transferring to your preferred container.
Remember to keep the contents free of moisture as this is a preservative free mix.
To use
Simply pour about a teaspoon of the mixture into your hand, add water, and watch the magic happen. Cleanse your face as you would with any other cleanser (keeping free of eye area), and finish with your favorite tonic or hydrosol and then moisturize as usual.
If you make your own version, I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
Enjoy!
Below is the book that has formulas for the bath bombs I used.
