Infusing Things from the Garden

Lise

pinecones1500.jpg

This year, we planted a few trees and bushes in the garden, one of which was a small pine that decided to grace us with these lovely resinous pine cones. Those white spots you see are (very sticky resin) – collecting them required gloves.

Pictured is what I harvested from our little Pinus Parviflora (I couldn’t bear the thought of plucking it completely bare) so this experimental batch is quite small.

The pine scent is quite strong and very refreshing, so I decided to try a castor oil infusion with the thought of using the oil in a face cleanser.

This batch is heat infused so it was only a matter of hours before the fragrant oil was straining. I’ll be writing more about this lovely plant and it what it has to offer in the way of skincare in an upcoming post, but meantime, let me show you the finished infusion and what the spent cones looked like.

Until next time.
